Tilt Thursdays @ The River Room 17/05/07
Friday, May 18, 2007, 04:47 PM - Poker

Got off to a great start last night. Third hand in I limped in late position with Ad5d. The flop came 2d 4d 10c. I flop the nut flush draw and a gutshot. Mid position bets out 250 and I raise to 1000. The big blind raises to 4000 and everybody folds to me. I ask the tournament director if the rebuy has been taken (the first one out of the tournament gets the option to buy back in) and he replied no. I go all in and the BB calls. He shows a set of deuces and I call for chips! A brick on the turn and boom.... The 10d on the river. I double up and the BB takes the rebuy.

I remain steady for the next 2 and a half hours and then I get AQ and AK back to back and miss. An hour later I get AK again, there are 11 players left. I push under the gun, hoping to grab the blinds (600/1200/100) and survive to the final table. I go all in for 13,700 and every folds round to the BB, Dom. He thinks for about 2 minutes and eventually he shows me no respect at all and calls with Kc9c for 90% of his stack. What a DOMkey!!! Needless to say he turns a flush and I am sent to the rail.

Tilt Tuesdays @ The River Room 15/05/07

Nothing really exciting to report on this one. Couldn't find a hand to stand up for most of the 2 hours I was in this tournament. Ended up making a stand with 88 in late position and ran into 99 on the BB.

Carl chopped it last night. Nice one C!

World Series Qualifier @ The River Room
Wednesday, May 16, 2007, 02:14 AM - Poker

Played in the WSOP Qualifier at the River Room last night. 42 players, $21,000 in the prize pool and 1 seat guanteed for the WSOP Main Event.

I played more aggressive in this tournament than I normally do. I lost half my stack doing this and then I bluffed a couple of hands and by the break I was at 11.5K. I took the add on and I was at 21.5K. Got AA and KK and got my stack up to 32K when I was dealt KK on the button. One before the cutoff goes all in for 10K and I call. He shows AJ and straight away on the flop he hits his Ace. An hour goes by and I am down to 14K. I have AsQd. Blinds are 1000/2000/200 and I decide to make a stand and push. Aaron wakes up with AA on the button but the flop gave me some hope. Qs 7s 3s. I have top pair and the nut flush draw. With this flop I am in good shape. The AA is only a 56% favourite. Needless to say, Albert was dealing and found a couple of bricks to bust me out.

Nice one Henry, Lucky You & I Bet You
Monday, May 14, 2007, 04:53 AM - Poker

Congratulations to Henry Tran from our home town of Toronto. Winner of the 2007 Johnny Chan Poker Classic in BC. A nice payday of $325,000.

Went to see the movie Lucky You last night. What a waste of $11.95! Avoid it unless you have 2 hours to waste.

Also there is a new show out in the States with Phil Laak (The Unibomber) & Antonio Esfandiari called 'I Bet You'. They go around and make bets against each other generally for around $500. Check out the first episode online at MOJO

Arrived home today. Took an earlier flight this morning. Happy to be home but dissapointed to nave not had a decent result in Vancouver.

I would just like to say thanks to Daryl McCullough, Senior Manager, Poker Operations & Development, for running a great tournament once again. See you in November. I would also like like to thank Alex Lee, The Marketing Specialist from BCLC for trying to get me a jacket and for looking stunning every day I saw her. Hope you can send me those pictures from the tournament soon.
